Also I found that pfiles exists on 5.8 and 5.9. This could work for me.

I created the oracle user and changed the owner of the install folders, /opt/Disk1 through Disk3, to oracle:dba...but when I log in as oracle I can't even go to the /opt folder!

Because when I do that, it tells me I don't have the proper permissions. I've given full read-write access to this folder and it still won't let me proceed with the installation.
