SCO 5.0.5 + MySQL5?

I am wondering has anyone sucessifully installed mySQL5 server on a
SCO 5.0.5? i am having a lot of trouble following these instructions
MySQL AB :: MySQL 5.1 Reference Manual :: 2.13.5.8 SCO UNIX and OpenServer 5.0.x Notes

Since there are no mysql packages for SCO 5.X i should be taking source code and compiling it into .VOL files that can be used by SC's software manager - is that correct?

I've tried running the scripts but they fail to produce the VOL files ( or anything usefull)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
