temperature censors in linux machine

Dear all,

there are some linux servers in our DC ....But it is generating a lot of heat.

I want to measure the temperature of the server ...thru commands or any

software packages. IN some other servers ipmitool is installed where they have the censor devices also installed. But in these servers , we dont have any hardware installed.

Could any one pl explain how to measure the temp of the server...that will be great.

That depends what hardware you are using and which type of sensors are built in. As a start you can check out the package lmsensors, if you have that available.
Check this link: lm-sensors

Dear Zaxxon,

I have the lm sensor package... But when I ran sensors-detect command in the termiinal , i find that there are "no sensors detected "

Is there any way to find out our hardware is not supported.
