Data Putty recognise keystroke wrongly!

Putty: release 0.58
Operating system: Linux, release 2.6.36-rc7

Problem:
I use Putty to connet to server, initially everthing looks fine but after I browse some files, my keyboard acts funny, like if I keyin "cd", I got "je" on the screen. Smilie
This only happens on some existing files but the test file which I created for testing purpose. My colleague who use the same tool and work in the same environment but different PC has no such problem.
I tried to change the Keyboard setting in Putty Configuration and set the Function keys and keypad from default ESC[n~ to Xterm R6 and Linux, and the problem remain.

Please advice! Thanks. Smilie

Please post the content of /etc/sysconfig/keyboard

What is the Windows machine's keyboard type?

Sorry, can't find the file you mentioned. Error message like below:
>ls -lt /etc/sysconfig/keyboard
/bin/ls: cannot access /etc/sysconfig/keyboard: No such file or directory

/etc/sysconfig> find . -name keyboard -print
Nothing found

Regarding the keyboard type, I'm not very sure about what do you mean but see some info on the back of my keyboard: Dell T3A002

Thanks!

You have files with 'oddball' characters in them (like utf-16) in which are interpreted as escape sequences for your terminal. The problem is probably putty. Try a different terminal emulation setting in putty, as a guess, try vt240.

Best idea is to figure out what terminal emulation the guy next to you has.

I don't have VT240, so I tried VT100+, looks like it works!!!
Thanks a lot!!! Smilie
