Forgot Passwd

Dear all,
I am using RHEL5. In that machine i forgot the root passwd. But i can able to login by using my username. But performing administrative tasks it will asks the root login. Can somebody tell me reset the root passwd.

you must reboot your system and boot single mod..
and run passwd command Smilie

Unless your BIOS is password protected you can use the following steps:

Booting into Single-User Mode

The doc. is for RHEL 4 but it's the same for RHEL 5.
