Cannot bring up Firefox

I have installed firefox and it previously worked before I installed the oracle software on my machine. Now when I click on the icon to bring up the browser it fails.

I tried to do it from the command line and this is what I get:

[user1@jhlinux ~]$ firefox
Cannot find mozilla runtime directory. Exiting

What am I missing here ?

The default browser (Konqueror) is working but it is not compatible all the way with oracle.
I would like to be able to use firefox.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you build firefox from source, or install it with your normal package manager? This can happen when firefox gets installed into /usr/local/bin instead of the paths its launcher script expects. Sometimes you can work around this by making symlinks. Try tracing the script with strace to see where it actually is looking for binaries.
