In my program, I'm trying to replace all the '\' characters with a blank space:

740 for (k = 0; k < strlen(QueryBuffer_a); k++)
741 {
742 if (QueryBuffer_a[k] == '\')
743 QueryBuffer_a[k] = ' ';
744 }
.
.
.

But I'm getting compile errors:
.
DbPgCommon.c:742:41: missing terminating ' character
.

Is the compiler thinking I'm using the "\" as a control character? How do I get around this?

It is taking it as a control character, yes -- the compiler interprets the quote after the backslash as the literal character instead of the backslash. You can also do double-quotes in strings with a backslash.

You need two backslashes to get a literal backslash character, like '\\'. The same applies in double-quoted strings.
