in.talkd(1M) System Administration Commands in.talkd(1M)NAME
in.talkd, talkd - server for talk program
SYNOPSIS
in.talkd
DESCRIPTION
talkd is a server used by the talk(1) program. It listens at the UDP port indicated in the ``talk'' service description; see services(4).
The actual conversation takes place on a TCP connection that is established by negotiation between the two machines involved.

The protocol is architecture dependent.
The in.talkd service is managed by the service management facility, smf(5), under the service identifier:
svc:/network/talk
Administrative actions on this service, such as enabling, disabling, or requesting restart, can be performed using svcadm(1M). Responsibil-
ity for initiating and restarting this service is delegated to inetd(1M). Use inetadm(1M) to make configuration changes and to view config-
uration information for this service. The service's status can be queried using the svcs(1) command.

rpc.sprayd, sprayd - spray server
SYNOPSIS
/usr/lib/netsvc/spray/rpc.sprayd
DESCRIPTION
rpc.sprayd is a server that records the packets sent by spray(1M). The rpc.sprayd daemon may be started by inetd(1M) or listen(1M).
The service provided by rpc.sprayd is not useful as a networking benchmark as it uses unreliable connectionless transports, (udp for exam-
ple). It can report a large number of packets dropped when the drops were caused by the program sending packets faster than they can be
buffered locally (before the packets get to the network medium).

Note, this does not refer to posters who use English as a second language.
I must admit I dislike posts which appear to have been relayed by somebody texting while driving and wearing a straight-jacket.
Perhaps I am an old conservative but I find them both hard to read and also makes me more... (4 Replies)
I have to admit - sometimes i just show the fact that i have nerves for all to see. When this happens i usually go off on some rant summing up a lot of frustrating encounters in one (more or less) coherent diatribe.

I have talk installed:
yum install talk talk-server
And I have /etc/xinetd.d/talk set to disabled
and /etc/xinetd.d/ntalk set to enabled
I also have opened port 518/udp on server and laptop
and enabled xinetd.service
sudo systemctl enable xinetd.service
sudo systemctl start... (4 Replies)
Hi! I would like to start creating a bridge for good old Unix talk program. This bridge would allow you to joinIRC-channel by using talk just for example. I have a couple of questions:
1. Are there any previous attempts or implementations creating Talk bridge?
2. Which version of the talk... (9 Replies)
Dear All,
There was a problem in the data center data, which caused the server to be unreachable for about an hour.
Server logs show the server did not crash or go down.
Hence, I assume there was a networking issue at the data center.
Still waiting for final word on what happened.
