DIR_COLORS change in fedora

Hi all,
I'm using fedora 6 and I did change the colors in /etc/DIR_COLORS file. The changes are effect everywhere except "root" log in If I open it in a gnome terminal. If I go command line for "root" (Alt+F2) the changes are there but not in root using gnome terminal. For all other users, the gnome terminal has the new colors.

The DIR_COLORS actually doesn't effect anything. There's a little command which must be run by the user for that file to be utilized. It's
Code:
eval `dircolors /etc/DIR_COLORS`

You can specify any file you want, but if you don't, then it uses a "precompiled database". Throw that in root's .bash_profile or whatever.
