Ddns

Hi all,

I was wondering ( yes it is a noob question Smilie ), i buy a domain (from domain.com) but i have dynamic public ip address and i was wondering if there is a way to automatically update my dynamic public ip address to my domain with BIND.

For example now i have some ip 22.22.22.22 (public) and from domain.com i say this is my home server. But tomorrow i will have 33.33.33.33 and you should get this info and update. etc ... you know what i mean Smilie

If im not clear what this question means pls ask.

Tnx in advanced !

You will have to set up a fixed web site, or at least some kind of proxy, probably on your ISP (internet service provider's) site, or some other hosting service like godaddy.com. Having a DHCP (that means the isp assigns an external IP for your computer ) system as a direct web host will have problems. I do not know this first hand. Never tried it.

Someone who has tried it will have to give you a better answer. Doing what you asked never occurred to me.

I was thinking like for example ... like i say i buy a domain from domain.com, they gave me an ip address, nameserver etc... so i was thinking ( and im not sure if im right or wrong ) to bound this nameservers to communicate and share that information or something similar. The other thing that is solution is to register at one of the similar sites like dyndns.org. But i dont want to register or share information on other sites if i can do it on my own.

AFAIK you cannot do what you without some kind of static IP address for your computer. See if your ISP will let you do that.

You will have to be an ISP
or
Have your existing ISP or another website provide a static IP for you. The more "externalized" your DNS service is the less secure your system becomes as well. All you need is some disk space and an account on your ISP's machine. Your content can then live whereever you want.

Im do not need security for this, how to say a hobby project Smilie. I cannot conntact the ISP they will make me pay for hosting and other stuff, i would like to host my own server. The idea that iv got is to host simple "Hello world" page to be access when you go on mydomainname.com for example. That is all. For now that iv got from domain.com is 1MB storage Smilie and IP address, nameserver, etc. Any way if i found solution or have something in mind pls shear and also i will to. Smilie Tnx for replying by the way Smilie
