Anyone know the kernel parameter name in HP-UX or how to display the MAX_IO_SIZE value.

Are you looking for the number of bytes the kernel can/will write to file during one I/O?

You can control some of that with aio. struct aiobc allows you to set the size of the transfer - aiobc->aiobc_nybtes. There is no guarantee that the i/o will complete in a single kernel write operation.
