Option 1: see if you have the stat command, as it can do something similar.
Option 2: write a simple Perl or awk script.
Option 3: install GNU date on AIX

Here's a quick and dirty Perl script.

Code:
perl -le 'print time - (stat(shift))[9]' /path/to/file

# 9

i have used ur command in a file whoese details are given below

-rwxrwxrwx 1 pipe pipe 371 May 21 01:37 sort_files

perl -le 'print time - (stat(shift))[9]' sort_files

o/p: 10588

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Can u tell me what this value indicate . the time of file is May 21 01:37
# 10

It's the file's age in seconds.
