As you can see there's no additional PVID.

The extendvg command is still displaying the same message as before.
Quote:
$ extendvg rootvg hdisk0

error code (-271).
0516-792 extendvg: Unable to extend volume group.

OK so the disk is good. Try the -f flag (force).

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. In the end we got IBM involved and they identified a mismatch with the ODM and the VGDA on the disk. The remaining disk thinks that it is the only disk in rootvg, yet the ODM has 2 entries:

# odmget -q "name = 'rootvg' and attribute = 'pv' " CuAt

CuAt:
name = "rootvg"
attribute = "pv"
value = "001016cc9220d0de0000000000000000"
type = "R"
generic = ""
rep = "sl"
nls_index = 0

CuAt:
name = "rootvg"
attribute = "pv"
value = "001016cc923411e70000000000000000"
type = "R"
generic = ""
rep = "sl"
nls_index = 0

Use this to get things back in sync :
# redefinevg -d hdisk1 rootvg

then

# synclvodm -Pv rootvg

After this the extendvg and mirror commands work ok

Thats great ! Well done and thanks for sharing the way you solved it. You have helped a lot of others ..

Did IBM give you any idea how it must have happened ?
