How do you create a dummy hdisk with AIX 6.1? In previous versions, I've used this and works, but now I get this error.

        0514-022 The specified connection is not valid.

Any ideas?

Do you have a fscsi0 in this box? Maybe try assigning a scsi controler (that is available) - that worked for me with your switches on an AIX 7.1 box.

Well, I tried fscsi in my command as well and could not ever get that to work. I don't have a SCSI controller in this box so I can't assign one even temporarily. This box only has SATA.

I opened a ticket with IBM and they said that with AIX 6.1 TL6 there is a new command, "rendev", which lets you rename devices. I'm upgrading now and am going to give that command a try. I think renaming devices will help me get to the same end result which is getting hdisks in synch (hdisk# to PVID) between two VIO servers.
