You cannot update SDDPCM from AIX 5.2 to AIX 5.3. Won't work well but leads to many potential problems and errors. Do a complete uninstall (installp -ugx <sddpcm.bla.fileset>) and then install from scratch. Reboot required. SDDPCM is available for free from the IBM web page. Make sure to use current microcode levels with the FC devices.

Depends on whether you are a danger seeker or whether you want to play it safe. Smilie

In order to run a stable environment I'd use the SDDPCM fileset that is intended for the particular oslevel. IBM supplies every SDDPCM package for AIX 5.2, 5.3 and 6.1. SDDPCM installation packages for AIX

Well if they seem to work and you cannot be bothered to update them then try not to worry about it.

If you have a problem, even a minor one, then you could be in big trouble.

The least tested parts of any code are the error recovery parts and when these bits of code are needed you need to rely on them so it makes good sence to be at tested and supported levels at all times.

If you ever need IBM support for a san / storage problem then they will not help you until you update SDD to the level for your oslevel.

They may work just fine but IBM will not support them because they will ever have tested this setup.
