I use Arch linux, and have run it on old slow hardware (but not quite as slow as a P100) with success. I would expect you could get a command line version running on your laptop, and maybe even throw on a super lightweight gui. It is NOT a newbie-friendly distribution since you do a lot of the configuration by hand. But in your case that is exactly what you want - you can install the base system and add the compilers an whatever else you need without any bloat or extra packages. There is good documentation, forums and a wiki, on their website which was enough help to get me going. You can find them at

I wish to install Red Hat linux 7.1 on a machine with 16mb of EDO Ram. When I enter the instalation process I am told 'You do not have enough memory'. Is there a way to install RHL with only the 16? Or will I have to upgrade and buy some very expensive EDO.

This class provides a basic and easy to use support for the client-side HTTP. It is supplied in order to avoid dependency on LWP. If such

METHODS
The following class methods are available:
get, post, request_url, error, error_with_url, network_error, response_code, response_codestr, response_error, response_headers,
response_content.
get url [params ...]
Execute HTTP get of the given url and return the html string or undef on network/response error. Use other methods to get the details
about the error and the response.
params is key-value hash, the following keys are supported:
