Data Madwifi - Only kernel versions 2.4.x are supported.

I have seen this problem posted before, but I have never seen an answer.

I have searched a few different Linux forums and exhaustively Googled the problem, but again, I have only seen a solution.

I am hoping someone who has experienced this problem was able to solve it and can pass their wisdom on to me!

Here are my specs:

Suse 10
Kernel 2.6.13-15
Gcc Version 4.0.2 20050901
Wireless Extention Support installed
Sharutils 4.5-2
Crypto API Support present
PCMCIA attempting to install: Atheros Netgear WG511T SuperG 108 Mbps 802.11g
Dell Inspiron 4100 Laptop

What I have been trying to do for the past 6 days is install Madwifi for my PCMCIA.

I get stuck after the "make" command.

I receive the error:

Checking if all requirements are met... FAILED
Only kernel versions 2.4.x and above are supported.
You have .
make: *** [configcheck] Error 1

Smilie I don't get it.

As stated above, I have kernel version 2.6.13.15.

When I type in make info, these are my results:

madwifi # make info
The following settings will be used for compilation:
TARGET : i386-elf
OS : linux
BUS : PCI
KERNELRELEASE:
KERNELPATH : /usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15-obj/i386/default
KERNELSRC : /usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15-obj/i386/default
KERNELCONF : /usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15-obj/i386/default/.config
MODULEPATH : /lib/modules//net
KMODSUF : o
WIRELESSEXT : 18

Due to this error, I then tried (upon advise):

make KERNELPATH: /usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15-obj/i386/default

This produced the error:

linux:/home/myusername/dls/madwifi # make KERNELPATH:/usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15-obj/i386/default
make: *** No rule to make target `KERNELPATH:/usr/src/linux-2.6.13-15-obj/i386/default'. Stop.

Can anyone advise a next step? Smilie

Filesystems Supported by Solaris

Could someone please tell me which filesystems are supported by Solaris? I am specifically interested in ext2, ext3, and XFS. Is XFS included in a standard Solaris distro? Are ext2 and ext3 only supported in Read-Only using lxrun? Thanks. (1 Reply)

max number of slabs per kernel module (kernel 2.6.17, suse)

Hi All, Is there a max number of slabs that can be used per kernel module? I'm having a tough time finding out that kind of information, but the array 'node_zonelists' (mmzone.h) has a size of 5. I just want to avoid buffer overruns and other bad stuff. Cheers, Brendan (4 Replies)

NAME
menu_post - write or erase menus from associated subwindows SYNOPSIS
#include <menu.h> int post_menu(MENU *menu); int unpost_menu(MENU *menu); DESCRIPTION
The function post_menu displays a menu to its associated subwindow. To trigger physical display of the subwindow, use refresh or some equivalent curses routine (the implicit doupdate triggered by an curses input request will do). post_menu resets the selection status of all items. The function unpost_menu erases menu from its associated subwindow. RETURN VALUE
These routines return one of the following: E_OK The routine succeeded. E_SYSTEM_ERROR System error occurred (see errno). E_BAD_ARGUMENT Routine detected an incorrect or out-of-range argument. E_POSTED The menu has already been posted. E_BAD_STATE Routine was called from an initialization or termination function. E_NO_ROOM Menu is too large for its window. You should consider to use set_menu_format() to solve the problem. E_NOT_POSTED The menu has not been posted. E_NOT_CONNECTED No items are connected to the menu. SEE ALSO
curses(3X), menu(3X). NOTES
The header file <menu.h> automatically includes the header file <curses.h>. PORTABILITY
These routines emulate the System V menu library. They were not supported on Version 7 or BSD versions. AUTHORS
