Yes, you have dynamic loadable binaries with the pre-compiled distro. This means that your shell must know where to find the java dynamic libs. This can be done with an environmental variable (sometimes) like LDCONFIG (if your system has or uses this) or adding the path to a similar configuration file (if your system uses that 
)

In aix 5.2, we are trying to update with the latest subsets for "bos.adt.debug package". the subset version we have is 33 and the latest available is 95.
Would like to know whether i need to load all the versions from 34 to 95 or can i load the latest version directly? (1 Reply)

We are facing problem with IBMWebsphereMQ6.0 TriggerMonitor while invoking java appliation in hp-ux with jdk1.6.
With other versions of jdk triggermonitor is able to invoke the java application successfully in the same environment. We are facing problems with jdk1.6 only.

Can you help me please. I have to install JDK 1.6.0 under Solaris sparc 64 bits machine. Is this the steps to do it the right way ?
1- Install JDK 1.6.0 for 32 bits machine before installing the package for 64 bits machine?

update-java-alternatives [--jre] [--plugin] [-t|--test|-v|--verbose] -l|--list [<jname>] -s|--set <jname> -a|--auto -h|-?|--help DESCRIPTION
update-java-alternatives updates all alternatives belonging to one runtime or development kit for the Java language. A package does pro- vide these information of it's alternatives in /usr/lib/jvm/.<jname>.jinfo. OPTIONS
-l|--list [<jname>] List all installed packages (or just <jname>) providing information to set a bunch of java alternatives. Verbose output shows each alternative provided by the packages. -a|--auto Switch all alternatives of registered jre/sdk installations to automatic mode. -s|--set <jname> Set all alternatives of the registered jre/sdk installation to the program path provided by the <jname> installation. --jre Limit the actions to alternatives belong to a runtime environment, not a development kit. --jre-headless Limit the actions to alternatives belong to the headless part of a runtime environment. --plugin Limit the actions to alternatives providing browser plugins. -h|--help Display a help message. -t|--test Don't actually do anything, just say what would be done.
