running NIS over ssh
Hi Guys,
Is it possible to run NIS over ssh as I want to run NIS without the security risks that would normally follow?
If you have got any suggestions please share them with me.

We also have a small number of SUSE 9.1 and SUSE 10 machines here for evaluation.

Hi, all.
I have a Solaris client here needs to bind to NIS server in another subnet. Following is the configuration i made on the client,
1) edit /etc/inet/hosts to add an entry of the NIS server -- nserver01
2) execute `domainname` to set local NIS domain to the domain of the NIS server.... (1 Reply)

As I do a ssh <nis_user>@server1 from server2, ssh prompts for certificates (as expected the first time), then it prompts for the users password, as soon as I enter the password, I get a Connection to server1 closed by remote host, and connection to server1 closed. and I disconnect back to the... Sys admin has provided me username and password and advised that solaris uses nis (and then I've been given hostnames).

NAME
ipcluster - IPython parallel computing cluster control tool
SYNOPSIS
ipcluster {piexec,local,mpirun,pbs,ssh} [options]
DESCRIPTION
ipcluster is a control tool for IPython's parallel computing functions.
IPython cluster startup. This starts a controller and engines using various approaches. Use the IPYTHONDIR environment variable to change
your IPython directory from the default of .ipython or _ipython. The log and security subdirectories of your IPython directory will be used
by this script for log files and security files.
POSITIONAL ARGUMENTS
The first positional argument should be one of: {mpiexec, local, mpirun, pbs, ssh}, which are the available cluster types.
For detailed help on each, type "ipcluster TYPE --help". Briefly:
local run a local cluster
mpirun run a cluster using mpirun (mpiexec also works)
mpiexec run a cluster using mpiexec (mpirun also works)
pbs run a pbs cluster
ssh run a cluster using ssh, should have ssh-keys setup
OPTIONS
-h, --help
show help message and exit
EXAMPLE
ipcluster local -n 4
This command will start 4 IPython engines on the local computer.
