You can use the ndd command on most interfaces - basically, you set which interface you want to use and then check if it is up or down - other parameters can be checked also. See the man page.
ndd -set /dev/hme instance 0 #change hme and 0 to your type of interface & #
ndd -get /dev/hme link_status
0 is down, 1 is up

I am using telnet instead of ssh because network/physical service is on maintenance mode. I can ping google and other internel machines.        install-solaris - install the Solaris operating system

SYNOPSIS

       install-solaris

       install-solaris	invokes  the  Solaris  Install	program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
       install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.

       The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:

       For SPARC machines:

       128 MB

	   Minimum physical memory for all installation types

	   Minimum physical memory required for windowing system
