The problem is the echo-command. You use a "here-document" (the "<<EOF ... EOF"-construct) and it isn't necessary to "echo" anything therein. Just use your variables and everything should be file:

Code:
typeset MyVar1="foo"
typeset MyVar2="bar"

cat <<EOF
This is MyVar1: $MyVar1
This is MyVar2: $MyVar2
EOF

You see there is no need to echo anything, the variables are being expanded (replaced with their content) by the shell automatically.

       echo, noecho - enable/disable terminal echo

SYNOPSIS

DESCRIPTION

       The  echo()  function enables Echo mode for the current screen. The noecho() function disables Echo mode for the current screen. Initially,
       curses software echo mode is enabled and hardware echo mode of the tty driver is disabled. The echo() and noecho() functions control  soft-
       ware echo only. Hardware echo must remain disabled for the duration of the application, else the behavior is undefined.

RETURN VALUES

       Upon successful completion, these functions return OK. Otherwise, they return ERR.
