Check your messages file for errors - if you don't know where (or if) mail errors are logged, check /etc/syslog.conf.

Check that DNS can find the IP for yahoo.com mailservers -
$ nslookup
> set type=mx
> yahoo.com

If your DNS isn't finding a mail exchange record then your system is simply bouncing the email back to the local user due to that error.

You can also check sendmail with the following:
$ /usr/lib/sendmail -d0.1 -bt < /dev/null
which will output info on what sendmail sees as far as configuration. Check that it's using DNS (look for NAMED_BIND) and check that the system identity comes out with no issues.

Unable to send mail.. Need experts Help..

i'm having accounts in 2 servers..1 is a AIX server and other is solaris..both are under same domain,say a.X.com and b.X.com.. from my solaris account i'm able to send mails to any ids.. but in case of my Aix account i'm just able to receive mails tat too either from other accounts in the same AIX... NAME

       check-hostname - check if sendmail can determine the system's  fully-qualified host name

SYNOPSIS

	/usr/sbin/check-hostname

DESCRIPTION

       The   check-hostname script is a migration aid for sendmail(1M).  This script tries to determine the local host's fully-qualified host name
       (FQHN) in a manner similar to  sendmail(1M). If	check-hostname is able to determine the FQHN of the local host, it reports success. Other-
       wise,  check-hostname reports how to reconfigure the system so that the	FQHN can be properly determined.
