does linux runs all file extensions thats windows does? i mean, .doc, .exe, .bat, .psp, etc? i reallly dunno how it works...

file extension are just a help to windows to associate application to open with. Similarly depending on all required applications installed on linux you can make sure all applications run. Though exe , bat wont run as required.

normal windows programs like photoshop, adobes etc run in linux?
they are available but usual setup for these programs wont do. you need to have linux installations for required applications.
ahnn... and what about drivers? i got a tablet and im afraid it wont run in linux...
try searching net for drivers of your tablet. Even manufacturer site could contain the required drivers.

is there a kind of version of msn messenger there? i dont think so, cuz msn is microsoft's (argh), but i wont die just for asking.
yahoo messenger is there , msn i am not sure

i use mozilla firefox, and its way better than IE... i hope that linux works the same way Smilie
i bet far far better Smilie

silly questions, eh?

Dummie question on ping (loopback)

what's the point of having loopback when you can just ping your local ip address? for example if my ip is 1.1.1.1, why can't i just do ping 5 1.1.1.1 instead of ping 5 127.0.1.1? it seems to me the only point in having it is for the sake of convenience? (2 Replies)
