How did you install the MySQL?

So the Makefile seems to look for the MySQL headers at /usr/mysql/include/mysql, are you sure the MySQL headers are really there?

On my Linux machine, I installed MySQL binary distribution (.tar.bz2) and inside there is an "include" directory with the header files. Either your MySQL path is incorrectly set (or detected), or you installed some trimmed down version of the package with the header files moved to some other packages which you may not have installed (if included at all).
