Checking for invalid chars

Hi there!
Can you please tell me how to check for ctrl chars or noprintable chars in a batch file ??
I suspect that some of my file is corrupted by those chars and i dont know how to chase them ...

I know this should be simple, but I've been manning sed awk grep and find and am stupidly stumped :( I'm trying to use sed (or awk, find, etc) to find 4 characters on the second line of a file.txt 44-47 characters in. I can find lots of sed things for lines, but not characters. (4 Replies)

Counts the number of Unicode chars in len bytes of src. Places that count in nchar. wchar contains 1, 2 or 4 depending on the number of bytes needed to hold the largest unicode char counted. The return value indicates whether src is a well-formed UTF8 string. VERSION
