AIX and monitoring tool "SMARTS"

Has anyone here had experience with a product called "SMARTS" from EMC? I am told by the SMARTS admin that he is having trouble gathering SNMP info from these AIX boxes (which are running AIX 5.3.8), because AIX uses SNMPv3 by default.
