I can't really tell where it's coming from either, as I can't see your input, and without that, can't follow your logic.
It'd be much easier to control it though, if you weren't running awk | sed | cut | fold | kitchen | sink, just running one awk instead. One process to exclude instead of 9.
Post your input, and post the output you want, please.
Ok I solved the issue with the extra number. I had to grep out bash.
Now storing in the array doesn't work
echoing the contents with ps shows:
so basically the contents of the array are:
5
5
but before putting into the array I echo the output of
ps -aef | grep $pid | grep -v grep | grep -v ps | grep -v $0 | grep -v awk | grep -v bash | awk '{print $2}'
I have the following error:
ls -lt | awk 'BEGIN NR > 1 { print $2, $9 }'
Syntax Error The source line is 1.
The error context is
BEGIN >>> NR <<< > 1 { print $2, $9 }
awk: 0602-500 Quitting The source line is 1.
What I want to do is ls a directory, skip the first... (3 Replies)

zegrep
ZGREP(1) BSD General Commands Manual ZGREP(1)NAME
zgrep, zegrep, zfgrep -- print lines matching a pattern in gzip-compressed files
SYNOPSIS
zgrep [grep-flags] [--] pattern [files ...]
zegrep [grep-flags] [--] pattern [file ...]
zfgrep [grep-flags] [--] pattern [file ...]
DESCRIPTION
zgrep runs grep(1) on files or stdin, if no files argument is given, after decompressing them with zcat(1).
The grep-flags and pattern arguments are passed on to grep(1). If an -e flag is found in the grep-flags, zgrep will not look for a pattern
argument.
zegrep calls egrep(1), while zfgrep calls fgrep(1).
EXIT STATUS
In case of missing arguments or missing pattern, 1 will be returned, otherwise 0.
