Piped output from SSH tunnel hangs?

Hi All, When starting an SSH tunnel, piped output 'hangs' (on AIX) : ssh -Nf -Llocalhost:22000:server:22 proxy | cat -vet - ... hangs ... Does anybody know how to prevent this?
