INTERFACE LEVEL

PARAMETERS

       dev	Device number.

DESCRIPTION

       getmajor() extracts the major number from a device number.

RETURN VALUES

       The major number.

CONTEXT

       getmajor() can be called from user or interrupt context.

EXAMPLES
