Ive spent probably a hour on this problem, and cant figure it out.
Let me explain the problem.
I run head -n5 datasets/q13data.txt and get this :
Now if we look above, we see "<-:::" in the first line, "<-::" in the second, "->:::" in the fourth, now I must use sed to filter this so I get a output like:
And this is the command ive written:
The output should be as above, but i am getting:
Whats wrong ? well the first three, compare them to the above, and the second thing thats wrong is that when there is a "->" it only prints ">"

I would like to know if this is possible, and if so what can i do to make this work.
I would like to grep a line X from fileA and then use the output to replace a word Y in fileB.

Hi all .... vexing problem here ...
I am using sed to replace some special characters in a .txt file:
sed -e 's/_<ED>_/_355_/g;s/_<F3>_/_363_/g;s/_<E1>_/_341_/g' filename.txt
This command replaces <ED> with í , <F3> with ó and <E1> with á.

SYNOPSIS
irsend [options] DIRECTIVE REMOTE CODE [CODE...]
DESCRIPTION
Asks the lircd daemon to send one or more CIR (Consumer Infra-Red) commands. This is intended for remote control of electronic devices such
as TV boxes, HiFi sets, etc.
DIRECTIVE can be:
SEND_ONCE - send CODE [CODE ...] once
SEND_START - start repeating CODE
SEND_STOP - stop repeating CODE
LIST - list configured remote items
SET_TRANSMITTERS - set transmitters NUM [NUM ...]
SIMULATE - simulate IR event
REMOTE is the name of a remote, as described in the lircd configuration file.
CODE is the name of a remote control key of REMOTE, as it appears in the lircd configuration file.
NUM is the transmitter number of the hardware device.
For the LIST DIRECTIVE, REMOTE and/or CODE can be empty:
LIST "" "" - list all configured remote names
LIST REMOTE "" - list all codes of REMOTE
LIST REMOTE CODE - list only CODE of REMOTE
The SIMULATE command only works if it has been explicitly enabled in lircd.

DIAGNOSTICS

"irsend: could not connect to socket"
"irsend: Connection refused" (or "Permission denied").
