Creating file systems (LVM v Multipath)

Hi all

I have a system running:

 uname -o
GNU/Linux

that has already some file systems created:

/dev/mapper/vg_outsystemdb-lv_root

And there is a need to add one more file system of 500Gb, in which the storage admin has already provided me with.

But I see that the other file systems have their volume group with some nomenclature that I am not aware of it, in term of skills, like:
/dev/mapper/vg, but as far as I know to create a new file system I just have to fdisk -l the required LUN, them choose 8e as the partition type, them pvcreate, vgcreate and lastly lvcreate.
But I am not sure this is the correct procedure, because the other file systems present on the system have this /dev/mapper.
Please correct me if I am wrong with my procedure

NAME

       cache_dump - dump cache metadata from device or file to standard output

SYNOPSIS

       cache_dump [options] {device|file}

DESCRIPTION

       cache_dump  dumps  binary  cache  metadata created by the device-mapper cache target on a device or file to standard output for analysis or
       postprocessing in XML format.  XML formated metadata can be fed into cache_restore (see cache_restore(8)) in order to put it  back  onto  a
       metadata device (to process by the device-mapper target) or file.

       -r, --repair
       Repair the metadata whilst dumping it.

       -h, --help
       Print help and exit.

       -V, --version
       Output version information and exit.

EXAMPLES

       Dumps the cache metadata on logical volume /dev/vg/metadata to standard output in XML format:

       cache_dump /dev/vg/metadata

EXAMPLES
