I am trying to configure a usb 2Tb hard drive to be used as a backup device. I am having a problem setting the file system on c2b0t0d0p1s1. Can anyone point me to a resource with a resolution?

What is the general rule for a divvy of a hard disk, I know that the boot is 20 megs swap is times 2 of ram. I am learning unix
for the first time and at work i cant get this divvy thing down pat yet.
boot 1 to 19999
swap 20000 to 122499 (512 megs of ram)
root 122500 to ?

The second hard drive (hd1a) in my SCO 5.0.5 suddenly has the wrong name (d1257all) and all of it's mount points (/u1 /u2 & /u3) are gone. Like someone went in and removed everything from divvy. 1) A command line argument to a variable
e.g origCount=ARGV
2) A unix command to a variable
e.g result=`wc -l testFile.txt`
in my awk shell script
When I do this :
