I have the following case statement:
case $larg in
*_* )
a=${larg%_*}; b=${larg#*_};
;;
*^* )
a=${larg%^*}; b=${larg#*^};
;;
esac
I cannot figure out what *_* and *^* stand for...
Also what a=${larg%_*}; b=${larg#*_}; and

I'm trying to write a script to calculate the usage of Log Archive in a directory, so if it gets to a point where the directory size is 60%, then send out an FYI.. email. So if then it reaches to 80%, move the logs from that directory.

I have line in input file as below:
3G_CENTRAL;INDONESIA_(M)_TELKOMSEL;SPECIAL_WORLD_GRP_7_FA_2_TELKOMSEL
My expected output for line in the file must be :
"1-Radon1-cMOC_deg"|"LDIndex"|"3G_CENTRAL|INDONESIA_(M)_TELKOMSEL"|LAST|"SPECIAL_WORLD_GRP_7_FA_2_TELKOMSEL"

I am somewhat new to Linux/Unix. I am currently working on a shell script that is suppose to cat a file, grep the same file for a certain line, if that line is found save the file in a different location, else remove the file.

mvn_compat_version - set version(s) for Maven artifact(s) SYNOPSIS
%mvn_compat_version artifact-coordinates version [version ...] DESCRIPTION
mvn_compat_version macro causes instructions for artifact installation to be added to XMvn reactor configuration. It is used to specify versions for Maven artifacts. Specified artifact coordinates must match at least one artifact. If not then behavior is unspecified. It is possible to specify artifact coordinates matching multiple artifacts, so one call to mvn_compat_version can affect installation of more than one artifact. OPERANDS
artifact-coordinates Artifact coordinates specify artifact(s) that this rule applies to. Coordinates are in format groupId:artifactId[:extension[:classifier]][:version]. If extension is specified then version must be specified too. If any part is omitted or equal to empty string then it matches any string. Wildcards and brace expansions are supported in each part. For more information see XMvn Configuration Reference. version Strings specifying artifact version.
