You can use /usr/es/sbin/cluster/utilities/clcycle which is a HACMP utility. Normally it is started via crontab and without parameters (it only cycles hacmp.out). But one can use it with option cluster.log and it will cycle cluster.log to cluster.log.1 and cluster.log.1 to cluster.log.2 and so on.
Also check the contents of the monitoring scripts themselves to insure they are not managing the logs.

Hello all.
Due to some reason I can not use HUP to rotate needed log files.
So I use the standard method:
cp $file $file.1
cat /dev/null > $file
But if Java application in this time writing the output to $file,
in the beginning of it appears many "^@^@^@^@^@^@".

Hi,
Recently i received a request to rotate logs of catalina.out (tomcat). The file size was about 807 MB. I used logadm to truncate the log ( -c ) and zip (-z 0) it.
Everything worked fine, catalina.out.0.gz was created (22 MB) and the size of original catalina.out became 0kb.

need advise regarding the log rotation, i have the logadm set at
30 2 * * * /usr/sbin/logadm
so it supposed to rotate once per day, but now it rotated twice!

scha_cluster_getlogfacility - cluster log facility access
SYNOPSIS

scha_err_t scha_cluster_getlogfacility(int *logfacility);
DESCRIPTION
The scha_cluster_getlogfacility() function returns the system log facility number that is being used as the cluster log. The value is
intended to be used with the Solaris syslog(3C) function by resource type implementations to record events and status messages to the clus-
ter log.
The function returns an error status, and if successful, the facility number in the location pointed to by the logfacility argument.
RETURN VALUES
The scha_cluster_getlogfacility() function returns the following:
0 The function succeeded.
nonzero The function failed.
ERRORS
SCHA_ERR_NOERR The function succeeded.
