Please look at post #2 in this thread. You seem to have ignored everything I asked.

Change your script to the following and run it from the command line (not from cron):

then 
echo "starting service"
else
echo " service not started" 
echo " Please check the start.sh file or manually start the service" 
fi

Note that I added the space in your [ command that I told you had to add before. Without that space, your syntax error guarantees that the then clause in your if statement will NEVER be executed.

Then notice that there is absolutely nothing in your script that will start anything! You check to see if a file exists (and, by convention, it looks like that file is a shell script), but if that file does exist, there is no attempt to execute it. If you were ever to execute the command:

it would be reporting a lie. This script never makes any attempt to start anything even after the syntax error is corrected!

NAME

       service - run a System V init script

SYNOPSIS

       service SCRIPT COMMAND [OPTIONS]

       service --status-all

       service --help | -h | --version

DESCRIPTION

       service runs a System V init script in as predictable environment as possible, removing most environment variables and with current working
       directory set to /.

       The SCRIPT parameter specifies a System V init script, located in /etc/init.d/SCRIPT.  The  supported  values  of  COMMAND  depend  on  the
       invoked	script,  service  passes  COMMAND and OPTIONS it to the init script unmodified.  All scripts should support at least the start and
       stop commands.  As a special case, if COMMAND is --full-restart, the script is run twice, first with the stop command, then with the  start
       command.

       service --status-all runs all init scripts, in alphabetical order, with the status command.

EXIT CODES

       service calls the init script and returns the status returned by it.

FILES

       /etc/init.d
	      The directory containing System V init scripts.

ENVIRONMENT

       LANG, TERM
	      The only environment variables passed to the init scripts.
