Hello
I tried rsync (version 3.0.7) on OpenServer 5.0.7.
Compile the version of samba.org and use of aljex.com.
Both versions do not work reliably, sometimes show errors and stop copying (sometimes works)
The OSR5.0.7 I'm using VirtualBox, I do not think the problem is in virtualization, but I wonder what experiences they have with rsync?
Has anyone ever used rsync to copy files locally on one server? (in this case from one SAN volume to another).
I am familiar with using rsync to copy files between servers, but not locally, I would usually use cp or or tar or something.
Is rsync slower? Does it use additional overhead of the... (4 Replies)
Hi
I use rsync with options -aHv to make backups. Unfortunately all aliases will be copied only partly. Is there an option to avoid this?
Any hint is welcome.
Regards and thanks in advance.

Hi
This is my situation
I have files on the left which I want to copy to the right. Once the files are copied to the right, they are processed and then deleted. The next time rsync runs I dont want it to copy the same files again, it should only copy any new files to the right.

I'm looking to use rsync to compare remote files and to copy the diff to a local directory, rather than transfer over the net.
The net connection is not fast enough to transfer these files (~1.8TB) and I'd like to sneakernet them instead.
Possible? (4 Replies)

dtc-xen_migrate(8) System Manager's Manual dtc-xen_migrate(8)NAME
dtc-xen_migrate - migrate a VPS to another Xen server
SYNOPSIS
LOCAL_VPS_ID DESTINATION_HOSTNAME [ DEST_VPS_ID ]
DESCRIPTION
dtc-xen_migrate This shell script is a part of the dtc-xen package that is to be used by the dtc panel to manage a Xen VPS server. Note
that you need rsync in both the source and the destination dom0.
This script is used to move the content of a Xen virtual machine (VM) managed with dtc-xen to another Xen server of the same type. The VM
destination will first be prepared, then the local VM will be shut down, then it's content will be transfered over using rsync.
Note that this is NOT a live migration, and down time of approximatively the time needed for the rsync will occure.
PARAMETERS
LOCAL_VPS_ID The DTC-Xen id of the VM, from 00 to 99.
DESTINATION_HOSTNAME Destination Xen server hostname to migrate to.
DEST_VPS_ID Destination DTC-Xen id of the VM, from 00 to 99.
EXAMPLE
dtc-xen_migrate 19 alpha.example.com 21
This will migrate the content of xen19 on the local machine to the destination server alpha.example.com using xen21 as VM name.
