Is it possible to combine a regular expression with a aritmetical expression? For example, taking a 8-numbers caracter sequece and casting each output of a grep, comparing to a constant.

What does the regular expression +~).*'] mean while using it with regexec.When the string "RCHNUSNT35C~rs07/ASM-RS07" is used with the regular expression +~).*'] regexec gives an error. I know what regexec does,but i do not understand what this expression means wrt to this string...

I currently list and sort all the files in a directory which begin with an Upper Case C and end with the extension '#finished#'.
Here is the command I use:

I am quite knew to scripting and I am trying to get a regular expression to work to check that a user enters a valid version number such as 1 or 1.1 or 12.3 etc. I dont seem to be able to get it to work as it picks up versions such as 1.......2. Registers the persistence resource. This command is supported in remote mode only.
The --jdbcjndiname option and --connectionpoolid option are mutually exclusive; only one should be used.
OPTIONS --user authorized domain application server administrative username.
--password password to administer the domain application server.
--host machine name where the domain application server is running.
--port port number of the domain application server listening for administration requests.
--secure if true, uses SSL/TLS to communicate with the domain application server.
--passwordfile file containing the domain application server password.
--terse indicates that any output data must be very concise, typically avoiding human-friendly sentences and favoring well-
formatted data for consumption by a script. Default is false.
--echo setting to true will echo the command line statement on the standard output. Default is false.
