Debian Unable to change uid to 0
Hi Friends,

I have created a new user "admin". I would like to use it as root equivalent (can change root password). Now, I want to give uid=0 and gid=0 to act as root. can you help? usermod command is not updating uid.

/etc/passwd:
root:!:0:0::/:/usr/bin/ksh
admin:!:221:207::/iscp/user/admin:/bin/ksh

3004-692 Error changing "id" to "0" : Account exists.

NAME

       users-admin - Configure local users and groups on the system.

SYNOPSIS

       users-admin [gnome-std-options]

DESCRIPTION

       users-admin  enables the user to configure the local users and groups on the system. I also provides the ability to assign RBAC profiles to
       a user.

OPTIONS

       The following options are supported:

       gnome-std-options	       Standard options available for use with most GNOME applications. See gnome-std-options(5) for more informa-

EXAMPLES

       Example 1: Running the main application.

EXIT STATUS

       The following exit values are returned:

       0	Application exited successfully

       >0	Application exited with failure

       YP/NIS, NIS+ and LDAP users should be aware that it's possible to have conflict with users configured in here with the result that an error
