How to read * in a variable in shell script??
hi,

i have a text file which conatins some fields delimited by space. some fields contains * as entries.

cron_file.txt
Code:
0 * * * *
0 3 * * *

i want to read each line 1 by 1 and store each field in seperate variables n a shell script.

i am unable to read the field that contains a *. how can i read * in a variable.

       echo, noecho - enable/disable terminal echo

SYNOPSIS

       int noecho(void);

DESCRIPTION

       The  echo()  function enables Echo mode for the current screen. The noecho() function disables Echo mode for the current screen. Initially,
       curses software echo mode is enabled and hardware echo mode of the tty driver is disabled. The echo() and noecho() functions control  soft-
       ware echo only. Hardware echo must remain disabled for the duration of the application, else the behavior is undefined.

RETURN VALUES

       Upon successful completion, these functions return OK. Otherwise, they return ERR.
