How to remove $ or new line character in a file?

Hi All,

Could any one suggest how to remove $ symbol in a text file when i am opening in vi editor.

Scenario;

For example iam having a file name aaa.txt the data inside the file is like

sample
name

when i am opening in vi editor

The same file resembles like below when i am open using vi editor and after giving (:set list ) command:

sample$
name$

The same file after exporting to desktop is showing the newline character \n in the first line only.

sample$
name$

Requirement: The file is having new line character in each and every line. I want to remove the new line character in the tailer line of the file.

My output should be like:

sample$
name

Commands used:

Code:
tail -1 aaa.txt | sed ':a;n;$!ba;s/\n/ /g'
cat aaa.txt | tr -d $
sed'/^$/d aaa.txt

After using this code also i am able to see the $ symbol in last line of the file when i am opened using vi editor and using set list.
