why i can't use this command:
echo $arg | cut -c 1,2 | read remainArg or
echo $arg | cut -c 1,2 | read $remainArg
so that the result will be assign to remainArg.

I have to assign a result of a query to a vairable like this
how can i do this
Query = select count(*) from table
x=`db2 ${Query}| sed -n '4p'`
but this doesn't work, is there any other way to assign the result without redirecting the result to temp file. .

gss_compare_name -- Compare two internal-form names
SYNOPSIS

gss_compare_name(OM_uint32 *minor_status, const gss_name_t name1, const gss_name_t name2, int *name_equal);
DESCRIPTION
Allows an application to compare two internal-form names to determine whether they refer to the same entity.
If either name presented to gss_compare_name() denotes an anonymous principal, the routines should indicate that the two names do not refer
to the same identity.
PARAMETERS
minor_status Mechanism specific status code.
name1 Internal-form name.
name2 Internal-form name.
name_equal
non-zero Names refer to same entity
zero Names refer to different entities (strictly, the names are not known to refer to the same identity).
RETURN VALUES
GSS_S_COMPLETE Successful completion
GSS_S_BAD_NAMETYPE The two names were of incomparable types.
GSS_S_BAD_NAME One or both of name1 or name2 was ill-formed.
