That's not how open works, in your code you you define a variable and ask to print its value

Code:

  my $catcon = "/app/share/ecctools/etc/sysconfig/ecc-config.xml";
   open(my $file_to_cat, '<', $catcon) || die("Could not open $catcon\n\t$!");
   while(<$file_to_cat>){

Trouble reading [noeol] file

cat can't show the last line of a file sftp transffered from Windows, because the last line is not ended with new line. Vi can show all line with warning I can append blank line in order for cat to show all lines, But is there a command to do this without modifying the file? > cat -A... (3 Replies)

script - make record of a terminal session SYNOPSIS
script [-a] [filename] DESCRIPTION
The script utility makes a record of everything printed on your screen. The record is written to filename. If no file name is given, the record is saved in the file typescript. See WARNINGS. The script command forks and creates a sub-shell, according to the value of $SHELL, and records the text from this session. The script ends when the forked shell exits or when Control-d is typed. The following option is supported: -a Appends the session record to filename, rather than overwriting it. NOTES
