I'm having problems trying to extract the contents of a variable and placing it into a text file. Grateful for any help.
Been trying something along the lines of:
$variable > file.txt
or
`cat < $variable` > file.txt
As you can see I'm a newbie to this :D (2 Replies)

guess(8) NVRAM WakeUp guess(8)
NAME
guess - Tries to guess the configuration by comparing four dumps of the NVRAM.
SYNOPSIS
guess
DESCRIPTION
guess tries to figure out the position of the wakeup time settings in the NVRAM. Just run guess from within the directory, where the four
NVRAM dumps at stored as "31.23.59.59+", "11.12.13.14+", "01.00.00.00+" and "01.00.00.00-". The file names denote the wakeup time, you have
to set manually, before dumping the NVRAM:
<DD>.<HH>.<MM>.<SS><status>
<DD> = Day of month
<HH> = Hour
<MM> = Minute
<SS> = Second
<status> = wakeup enabled (+) or disabled (-)
