Michael its OK fine that metadata is acquiring that space on tape but we noted this happens some times not all the times.
We faced problem again from last two days that our total data filesystem size is 1200GB & we are taking the backup of the same on LTO5 which has capacity of 1500GB. For the resolution of this we further moved our data from filesystem & bring the filesystem size down to 1000GB & took the backup which was successful. I am unable to understand what amount of metatdata was written on tape. Before LTO 5 we were taking 750 GB filessytem size backup on LTO4 which has native capacity of 800GB and we didn't face problem on that. But I don't know what happens with the LTO5.

We want to deactivate a VG but failed, because one of the LVs created there is busy. When we are trying to unmount the LV, it is telling "not mounted" and if I execute mount command it will be informing us "already mounted". dmsetup info is indicating "Open Count = 1".

My volume group of size 200 gb.
out of which only 100 gb is used by 2 logical volumes /dev/vg00/lvol0 and /dev/vg00/lvol0 respectively (both are 50 gb each).

We replaced one of our tape drives (attached to a SPARC Server) with an LTO5 one (external, attached vi SAS). Manually we check (using tar) that the OS can write data to the Tape Drive, however, the application backup is failing.

We are taking our filesystem backup having size of 1.3 TB on LTO5 catridges using the following command
find * -print|backup -ivf '/dev/rmt0' '-U'
i.e backup byname and it took about 6.5 Hours to complete When we are listing same tape contents using the following command

Syntax

Description
The file is a simple data base that describes disk geometries and disk partition characteristics. The format is patterned after the termi-
nal data base. Entries in consist of a number of fields separated by colons (:). The first entry for each disk gives the names that are
known for the disk, separated by vertical bars (|). The last name given should be a long name fully identifying the disk.
The following list indicates the normal values stored for each disk entry:
