Write a shell script (to run on the Bourne shell) that runs an infinite loop to check every 5 seconds to report on who logs into and who logs out of a UNIX system. Without loss of practical significance of this little utility, we can ignore multiple logins from the same user during a time period of... (1 Reply)

I wrote a simple program that generates a random word 10,000,000 times.
I wrote it in python, then in C++ and compared the two completion times. The python script was faster! Is that normal? Why would the python script be faster? I was under the impression that C++ was faster. What are some of... (2 Replies)

irsend - basic LIRC program to send infra-red commands
SYNOPSIS
irsend [options] DIRECTIVE REMOTE CODE [CODE...]
DESCRIPTION
Asks the lircd daemon to send one or more CIR (Consumer Infra-Red) commands. This is intended for remote control of electronic devices such
as TV boxes, HiFi sets, etc.
DIRECTIVE can be:
SEND_ONCE - send CODE [CODE ...] once
SEND_START - start repeating CODE
SEND_STOP - stop repeating CODE
LIST - list configured remote items
SET_TRANSMITTERS - set transmitters NUM [NUM ...]

REMOTE is the name of a remote, as described in the lircd configuration file.
CODE is the name of a remote control key of REMOTE, as it appears in the lircd configuration file.
NUM is the transmitter number of the hardware device.
For the LIST DIRECTIVE, REMOTE and/or CODE can be empty:

The SIMULATE command only works if it has been explicitly enabled in lircd.
