That error message could also indicate that the script is trying to execute a file which does not have an executable bit set. This is something that even root cannot do.

I suggest inspecting the permissions of install/.oui (if it still exists after the failed attempt) and grep the installer's files for mentions of that file name. Alternatively, use strace on the installer, making sure to provide the option to follow children. The output will very likely indicate the nature of the failure.

I have a script that checks if the script has been ran with sudo. If the script is not ran as sudo, the current script is being executed with exec sudo bash.        install-solaris - install the Solaris operating system

SYNOPSIS

       install-solaris

       install-solaris  invokes  the  Solaris  Install  program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
       install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.

       The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:

       For SPARC machines:

       128 MB
