how much do you know on using the sed commands within a diff command? I'm currently using one long command when robot runs that... when the diff command is ran that the < and > signs at the beginning of each line are changed to the environment name that they came from... making it easier to... I have a text file ketkee.txt , which look like below.
GATES := apple mango banana
XMLCHECK := red blue green pink
My requiement is to find the line that has XMLCHECK in it. and append two variables followed by a space... (2 Replies)
I want to instert Category:XXXXX into the 2. line
something like this should work, but I have somewhere the wrong sytanx. something with the linebreak goes wrong:
sed "2i\\${n}Category:$cat\n"

I wanted to pass a variable to the sed command which tells which line to be deleted.
a=2;
echo $a;
sed '$ad' c.out
it is throwing an error.
sed: 0602-403 "$a"d is not a recognized function.
I even tried "$a" and \$a.. but it is of no use.

I want to insert some text in the begning of each line. But issue is the text that i want to insert is stored into one variable. so my command look like

Synopsis
set_color [-v --version] [-h --help] [-b --background COLOR] [COLOR]
Description
Change the foreground and/or background color of the terminal. COLOR is one of black, red, green, brown, yellow, blue, magenta, purple,
cyan, white and normal.
o -b, --background Set the background color
o -c, --print-colors Prints a list of all valid color names
o -h, --help Display help message and exit
o -o, --bold Set bold or extra bright mode
o -u, --underline Set underlined mode
o -v, --version Display version and exit
Calling set_color normal will set the terminal color to whatever is the default color of the terminal.
Some terminals use the --bold escape sequence to switch to a brighter color set. On such terminals, set_color white will result in a grey
font color, while set_color --bold white will result in a white font color.
Not all terminal emulators support all these features. This is not a bug in set_color but a missing feature in the terminal emulator.
set_color uses the terminfo database to look up how to change terminal colors on whatever terminal is in use. Some systems have old and
incomplete terminfo databases, and may lack color information for terminals that support it. Download and install the latest version of
ncurses and recompile fish against it in order to fix this issue.
