[QUESTION] echoing a variable

Why not make a script that just does what you want in the first place? What feature are you missing which would allow you to do so?

One thing about looping...I tried to use while loops with nested if...but I got "while" unmatched errors all the time...checked the parameters and they are correct, and if I remove the nested ifs, then it will loop...weird...

I was just wondering how you would echo out different length variables but still have them all line up. I tried putting tabs between the variables but that didn't work as planned.
For example this is in some loop, with different variables in it each time:
echo "$1 $2 $3 $4 $5"

if we set IFS to '\' also the below happens

I want to echo into file1 echo & date commands, which in turn will be echoed into file2 string and the current date.
So when I'll run file1 it will echo into file2 the commands 'echo' & 'date'
My problem is that the date command turns into the actual date value.

service SCRIPT COMMAND [OPTIONS] service --status-all service --help | -h | --version DESCRIPTION
service runs a System V init script in as predictable an environment as possible, removing most environment variables and with the current working directory set to /. The SCRIPT parameter specifies a System V init script, located in /etc/init.d/SCRIPT. The supported values of COMMAND depend on the invoked script. service passes COMMAND and OPTIONS to the init script unmodified. All scripts should support at least the start and stop commands. As a special case, if COMMAND is --full-restart, the script is run twice, first with the stop command, then with the start com- mand. service --status-all runs all init scripts, in alphabetical order, with the status command. EXIT CODES
