Will try the link you posted, bipinajith. Was hoping for an awk or perl one-liner, but sometimes we just don't get what we want, right?
As for the other two replies, as stated in the original post, I can not use `date --date ...` I also can not use `date -d ...` I wish it was that easy, but my understanding is that these two options are GNU only, and I don't have it.

It's easy as pie to get the date minus one day on opensolaris:
date -d "-1 day" +"%Y%m%d"run this command on our crappy Solaris 10 machines however (which I'm guessing doesn't have GNU date running on it) and you get:
date: illegal option -- d
date: illegal option -- 1

Set a date according to the ISO 8601 standard - using weeks and day offsets rather than specific dates.
