  • add more paging space (mkps on a logical volume or nfs share, would not use nfs but it's possible
  • find out which processes take the most paging space and kill it, otherwise aix will start to kill processes
  • if the system is completely slow, so you can't log in: reboot from hmc or ivm

if you can login to the system, or you are sill logged in, but can't issue any commands because of the lack of memory, you could try to

Code:
cd /proc
echo *

and issue kill -9 on some of the higher process ids
but then reboot the system to have a clean start

killall(1M)						  System Administration Commands					       killall(1M)

NAME

       killall - kill all active processes

SYNOPSIS

       /usr/sbin/killall [signal]

DESCRIPTION

       killall is used by shutdown(1M) to kill all active processes not directly related to the shutdown procedure.

       killall terminates all processes with open files so that the mounted file systems will be unbusied and can be unmounted.

       killall sends signal (see kill(1)) to the active processes. If no signal is specified, a default of 15 is used.

       The killall command can be run only by the super-user.
